Abstract
1,046,597. Conveyer systems. FISHER & LUDLOW Ltd. Oct. 4, 1965 [Oct. 2, 1964], No. 40091/64. Heading B7L. In a conveyer system similar to that described in Specification 982,436, a stop device 9, Fig. 1, for stopping a load carrier trolley 8 on its track 7 after the trolley has been disconnected from the driving dogs on an endless power-driven chain, comprises a channel-sectioned arm 10 pivoted to the track about a vertical axis at 11 and a stop member 17 slidable lengthwise of the arm 10 against the urge of a leaf-spring assembly 29 and which member 17 after moving a predetermined distance relative to the arm 10 can swing laterally outwardly of the arm so as to be disengaged from the trolley. As shown, the stop member 17 has a portion 19 passing through a slot 16 in the arm 10 and a rear lug 26. The number of spring leaves 30 is varied in accordance with the loading of the trolleys of the system and the ends of the assembly 29 abut the lug 26 and the front closed end of the channel sectioned arm 10. The front end of the member 17 is T-shaped and one limb 21 of the T is engageable by the trolley 8 whilst the other limb 23 has an abutment face 24 which engages an abutment face 25 at the front end of the arm 10. When a trolley 8, which has been disconnected from the driving chain dogs (not shown), engages the limb 21 the momentum of the trolley will cause the member 17 to slide in the arm 10 against the urge of the spring assembly 29 until the trolley is brought to rest with the end 24a of the face 24 still in abutment with the end 25a of the face 25 as described with reference to Fig. 2 (not shown). However, should the conveyer mechanism be faulty and the trolley is still, e.g. positively driven, the member 17 will slide to the position in which the abutment faces 24, 25 disengage and the member 17 will then be swung outwardly of the arm 10 by the trolley by pivoting about its end 18 on the web 15 of the arm 10, as described with reference to Fig. 3 (not shown).
