Abstract
657,265. Rope railways. KING, Ltd., G. W. Jan. 31, 1949, No. 2622. [Class 104 (ii)] In a conveyer system of the type wherein load - carrying trolleys 11 are propelled along a track 10 by pusher dogs 12 carried by a driving-chain 13 which is itself suspended from trolleys 14 running on an upper track 15, and means are provided to disengage the driving dog from a trolley which is arrested optionally, e.g. for loading or unloading, the arrested trolley, as shown at the right-hand side of Fig. 2, is arranged to engage a roller 24 on a pivoted arm which is thereby swung to operate a cable link 22 extending rearwardly to a preceding station where it operates a parallel link device including a ramp 16 which is brought into the track 15 so that it lifts the trolley 14 carrying the chaindriven dog 12 propelling the following trolley, and at the same time raises a stop 30 in the track and halts the trolley. On the release of the first trolley the chain lifting device is rendered inoperative and the drive to the succeeding trolley restored automatically. A series of such interconnected stations and a similar " final station are provided along the system and at each the parallel track members 15, Fig. 4, carrying the trolleys 14 are slotted to enable a ramp 16 to be raised or lowered therethrough. Each ramp is carried by a pair of bell-crank levers 17, 18 which are pivoted on fixed pivots 19, 20 adjacent to the track members 15, one arm of each bell-crank being pivoted at its outer end to the ramp, and the other arm connected pivotally to a link 21 which, with the ramp 16, forms substantially a parallel link system. One end of the link 21 is connected to a tension spring 26 which is anchored to a fixed point, the other end being connected to the cable linkage 22. At its other end the cable 22 is connected to one arm of a bell-crank 23 mounted on a fixed pivot on the supporting framework so that the roller 24 on the other arm can be brought in the way of part of an advancing trolley. The stop 30, which is projected into the path of a trolley when the ramps 16 at a station become operative, comprises an end of a pivoted lever 29 which is connected by a rod 28 to an arm 27 movable angularly on pivotal movement of the bellcrank lever 17 associated with each ramp. Ramps or equivalent devices are necessary at the final station to lift the driving chain and pusher dogs above a trolley held at that station.
