Abstract

974,538. Collapsible box pallets. ETABLISSEMENTS TRIQUET. Oct. 15, 1962 [Oct. 15, 1961], No. 38880/62. Headings B8H and B8P. [Also in Division E2] A collapsible box pallet of the kind in which the walls are hinged to the base has releasable fastening means for coupling adjacent walls in the erected condition. The fastening means are in the form of hinges 66 each having a part 66a secured to one wall and a part 66b secured to the other wall, the two parts being separable in the direction of the hinge axis. The pivotal connection 16, 17 between the wall 3 and the base 1 is such as to allow it a limited degree of vertical movement, sufficient to disengage the hinge parts 66a and 66b. Accidental disengagement is prevented by a latch comprising a portion 71 which overlies the top of the wall 3 and is pivoted to it at 74, and a portion 72 which fits below the lower hinge member 66a. The wall 3 of the pallet may be in two parts hinged together at 14, so that the upper part can be used as a door. In this case the hinge 14 also has a restricted vertical play and the lower part of the wall is secured to the adjacent wall by a further hinge-like fastener 66. The end walls 2 of the pallet may be hinged to the base by stirrups 54 and securable thereto by a latch 57, 58 which holds the wall to a corner post 6 attached to the base. The pair of end walls 2 may each incorporate a lifting eye 51 reinforced by an inverted V-shaped structural member 52 of the wall.
