A cartridge fuse having two insulating parts 11, 12 arranged side by side, with a fuse element 17 having a length equal to or slightly less than the parts 11, 12 lying longitudinally between them and having each end connected via a metal insert with a metal cover cup which clamps the fuse parts together. The ends 14 of the parts 11, 12 which may be of plastic, may carry silver-dipped brass cups 15 making contact with the fuse element 17, which itself may comprise a gold or gold alloy film on an insulating backing, and the outer cups 18 then contact the inner cups 15.
