Abstract

Polyamides are produced by condensing the amine <FORM:0970564/C1/1> with one of the dicarboxylic acids: glutanic, suberic, azelaic, sebacic or especially adipic acid. Examples are given in which the degree of polymerization is 2 or 3.ALSO:Vat dyeings are levelled by treatment during or after dyeing with polyamides consisting of (a) structural elements of polyamines that contain an alicyclic or heterocyclic residue, at least one alkylene residue, at least one 3 degree or 4 degree nitrogen atom and at least two nitrogen atoms bound to hydrogen, and (b) structural elements of dicarboxylic acids of the formula: HODC - (CH2)k - COOH wherein k is 3 to 8. The polyamides may be prepared from N-amino-ethyl-piperazine and any of the acids: glutaric, suberic, azelaic, sebacic or adipic acid. The degree of polymerization may be 2 or 3. Examples are given of dyeing cotton.
