Abstract

969,287. Valves. BRISTOL SIDDELEY ENGINES Ltd. July 31, 1963 [Aug. 1, 1962], No. 29592/62. Heading F2V. [Also in Division G3] A control valve for a servomotor comprises a knife-edged part rotatable about a fulcrum and having the knife-edged part formed by a plane perpendicular to the fulcrum and a plane oblique to the perpendicular plane. As shown in the figures, the valve member 15 is mounted on a diaphragm 14 which forms a virtual fulcrum. The end 23 is formed with two knife-edged parts having the surfaces 24, 26 and 25, 27 respectively. Rotation of the valve member causes the knife edged parts to slide on surfaces 30, 31 to control flow through ports 35, 36. In a modification the ports are spaced apart and the knife-edges point in the opposite directions.
