Abstract

1,068,717. Valves. PLESSEY-U.K. Ltd. March 12, 1964 [Dec. 28, 1962], No. 48906/62. Heading F2V. A coolant-filling device for a closed cooling system 1 comprises a cut-off valve 9 for the coolant inlet into the system, which is differen tially controlled by the movements of a piston 4 acted upon by the coolant and by an auxiliary piston 12 acted upon by an enclosed volume 15 of the coolant whereby temperature variations in the coolant cause equal and opposite movements of the pistons. The valve 9 is connected by a pin 11 to the piston 12, the pin passing through slots 13 in an extension 10 of the piston 4. When the correct quantity of coolant has been supplied, an end 18 of the valve 9 is flush with a surface 19 of the housing.
