968,413. Connecting concrete building elements. GIRLINGS FERRO-CONCRETE CO. Ltd. Nov. 1, 1962 [Aug. 3, 1961], No. 28194/61. Heading E1V. A structure comprises two members, such as a column 1 and a beam 3, the column 1 having a transversely protruding support 2 which has a horizontally disposed hole 5, or holes, therein, the beam 3 being recessed at 4 to engage upon the support 2, a hole or holes 6 being provided in the beam 3 so as to align with the hole 5 in the support 2 when the beam 3 is engaged upon the support 2, whereby a connecting pin may be passed through the aligned holes, the members 1 and 3 being sufficiently close to eliminate the need for shuttered concrete infilling between the members. Continuity bars (not shown) mounted in and projecting from bores 11 in the column, extend into a grouting recess 12 in the beam. A grouting hole 7 extends from the recess 12 to the recess at 4. A further transversely protruding support 2<SP>1</SP> at right angles to, and slightly below the support 2, is provided for the support of a further member 13, and continuity bars (not shown) are mounted in and project from the bores 17. The beam 3 has shoulders 14 for support of floor slabs 16. The members 1, 3, 13 and 16 are formed of reinforced concrete.
