Abstract

968,388. Packaging-machines. G. F. PEMBROKE, and MOLINS MACHINE CO. Ltd. Dec. 14, 1960 [Dec. 17, 1959], No. 42901/59. Heading B8C. A cigarette packing machine comprises a pusher 3 which is reciprocated horizontally in order to deliver a stack 1 of cigarettes to a container 4, and a platform 2, the edge of which is engaged by a surface 18 on a member 17 connected to the pusher 3 so that the platform 2 is also reciprocated and rides over the cigarettes already loaded in the container 4, thereby preventing the bottom edge of the stack 1 from catching on them. The platform 2 is fixed to a block 10 slidable on a rod 11. Rods 12 carry springs 13 which return the platform when an abutment 31 raises the end of the member 17 to disengage the surface 18 from the edge of the platform. A bar 26 is moved, by cam and roller mechanism 28, 27, to push back the cigarettes in the container 4 as the platform 2 is lowered to the position shown. Raising and lowering of the platform 2, arresting of cigarettes above the stack, and reciprocation of the pusher 3 are effected as disclosed in Specification 877,875.
