968,005. Sliding clasp fasteners. LIGHTNING FASTENERS Ltd. Nov. 10, 1961 [Nov. 10, 1960], No. 38701/60. Heading E2S. An open ended sliding clasp fastener has a metal tape fitting comprising a discrete length of strip folded about one of the stringer tapes, the strip having longitudinal extending thinned flange portions 2. The fitting is intended to engage in a box fitting on the other stringer tape, and the strip is bent to form an openended tube with a slit along one side defined by the thinned flange portions, the tube being positioned over the beading of the stringer tape and clamped to it beyond the beading by means of the thinned flange portions. The flange portions are thin enough to go through a slot in the box fitting on the other stringer tape. In a modification a tongue is provided to close the bottom of the tube. The top of the tube is provided with a cut-away portion to accommodate the lowest element of the adjacent stringer tape when in use.
