Abstract
967,889. Smokers' lighters. LA NATIONALE S.A., and RONSON CORPORATION. Sept. 7. 1960, No. 22858/64. Divided out of 967,437. Heading F4F. The inlet valve of a reservoir of a smoker's lighter comprises a body 2 forming a well, shaped to receive the spout 3 of a refill vessel and a membrane 7 mounted on the reservoir side of an orifice 5 at the bottom of the well and adapted to close the orifice, the closure member 7 having a projection 10 which extends through the orifice to engage the end of the spout 30. When the spout is pushed downwardly it opens the valve and the liquefied gas flows from the spout through the orifice 5 and through some of a ring of ports 9 in the membrane, whilst gas in the reservoir exhausts to atmosphere through the other ports 9, the orifice 5 and a radial groove 12 on the end of the spout. The projection 10 is conical and has a slot or passage 11 directing the liquefied gas laterally towards certain ports 9. The refill vessel may have a valve which is opened by relative movement between the spout and the vessel.
