A mining machine guide structure either forming or secured to the side of the trough of a conveyer 14 comprises a downwardly and outwardly directed wall 9 merging into or having secured to at the lower part of the wall a cut-limiting strip 10 which extends laterally of the wall and has an upper surface that is either horizontal or substantially so, or slopes outwardly and downwardly at a substantially smaller angle to the horizontal than the wall. The outer edge of the strips may be formed either by chamfering or by the provision of projections therealong for clearing a floor over which the conveyer can be advanced. Specification 967,602 is referred to.
