Abstract

1,056,555. Mineral-mining methods. GEWERKSCHAFT EISENHUTTE WESTFALIA. April 23, 1964 [June 19, 1963], No. 16844/64. Heading E1F. A thick longwall face of mineral is mined, during successive passages of a winning machine therealong, in such a way that there is formed in the upper part of the face an oblique surface down which mineral can slide when detached from the upper part, which is always won in advance of the lower part. Three preferred embodiments of ploughs are described for carrying out this method of mining.
