Abstract

966,841. Rotary vane pumps. DANFOSS A/S. March 29, 1963 [March 30, 1962], No. 12624/63. Heading F1F. A pump comprises a hollow cylindrical shaft 2 rotatable in a housing 1 and provided at one end with a diametral slot 3 containing a radially slidable vane 4 the ends of the vane 4 being in sliding engagement with the wall of an eccentric pumping chamber 6 which communicates with a fluid inlet passage 8 in the housing and a fluid outlet passage in an end cover 10 co-axial with the bore and shaped to provide communication with the interior of the hollow shaft. The fluid outlet passage in the cover 10 is in the form of an outwardly extending bulge (Fig. 3 not shown) in its cylindrical wall 12 and is of greater width than the vane 4. The cover 10 is secured to the housing by studs 9 and is provided with a central vent hole 16 to allow a liquid e.g. a refrigerant mixed with the oil being pumped to flow off.
