Abstract

966,177. Infra-red radiation devices. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. July 17, 1963 [Sept. 19, 1962], No. 28273/63. Heading H1F. A high intensity radiating device comprises a sealed elongated tubular envelope of vitreous material having lead-in conductors extending through the sealed ends and a filament of tungsten made up of a pair of concentric helical coils extending axially of the envelope and connected in parallel to the lead-in conductors. The coils 7, 8 may be supported from the walls of the tube by spaced discs 6 on the outer coil 7 having central apertures through which the inner coil 8 passes. The inner coil 8 is slipped over the end of the lead-in wire 3. A coil 9 is mounted on the wire 3 adjacent the end of the coil 8 and carries a second coil 10 screwed to it, to which the outer coil 7 is screwed. The coil 10 extends as far as the top of the lead-in wire 3.
