Abstract
An apparatus for rolling metal powder into sections of differing widths, i.e. an I section, comprises several pairs of rolls. The powder is fed from a hopper 1 into the first pair of rolls 3, 3a which compress the narrowest part of the section to its final width but only effect a slight compression to the widest portion, i.e. the flanges. The section then passes through guides 4, 5 which enclose the section and can be heated, and enters another pair of rolls which compress the flanges even more. The section can pass through more pairs of rolls until it is pressed into the desired shape. The Specification <PICT:0965810/C6-C7/1> also describes apparatus for the production of trapezial shaped sections using several rolls to compress the broadest portion of the section in several stages, after the narrowest portion has been compressed to its final width by the first set of rolls.
