964,164. Pipe couplings. POWER FLEXIBLE TUBING CO. Ltd. March 15, 1963, No. 10364/63. Heading F2G. A corrugated flexible metal tube has a number of consecutive convolutions at its end closed together to form a compact wall zone and inner and outer metallic rings 8, 11 in surface contact with the inner and outer peripheries of the wall and flush with the end of the tube. The rings and end are welded together to form a pressure tight seal. In the construction shown the outer ring is provided with two ribs 15, 16 defining a groove 14 in which the braiding 25 of the tube is housed and clamped, the latter by an annular strap 26. An end fitting 19 possesses an annular socket within which the prepared end of the tube seats, the fitting abutting and being welded to the rib 15. In a further embodiment (Fig. 2, not shown) the end fitting comprises a spigot which is provided, at its inner end with a socket to house the tube end the inner end of the spigot likewise abutting and being welded to the rib 15.
