A submarine comprises a pressure-resistant hull 3 and a non-pressure-resistant hull 2 thereon forming a main buoyancy tank 1, the two hulls defining a streamlined body of oval cross-section, a propeller 13 at the stern having an axis of thrust T coincident with the axis of water resistance R, and the centre of gravity G and centre of buoyancy B disposed within an imaginary figure similar to and substantially coaxial with the body, the figure having a transverse cross-sectional area of 3% of that of the body. The submarine also has protruding rudders 11 and 12 and wing-like members 10, having aileron-like portions, together with retractable conning tower, air intake and exhaust tubes, radio and radar antennµ.
