[Also in Division F2] A valve 48, controlling the flow of fluid through a conduit 49, is adjusted by a motor 12 which also drives the slider of a potentiometer 56, the voltage between the slider and one end of the potentiometer being thus indicative of the angular position of the valve. The motor 12 and the gears coupling it to the shaft 46 of the valve 48, together with the measuring potentiometer 56 are mounted on a plate 3 supported on the shaft 46, rotation of the apparatus being prevented by a torque arm 68 resiliently attached to the conduit 49. The motor is supplied with a spring-loaded disc brake 21, 22 which is automatically released when the motor windings are energized.
