Abstract

1450794 Automatic control of flow valves MCJ LESTRADET 11 Sept 1973 [12 Sept 1972] 42612/73 Heading G3N [Also in Division H2] An electric motor driven valve controlling the operation of a fluid sprayer is operated by a control system which responds to changes in the speed of the vehicle carrying the sprayer. In the arrangement shown the output voltage of unit 1 represents the speed of the vehicle and a manually set proportion of this voltage is passed by unit 2 to the motor control 3 to adjust the valve. The motor M is connected in a combined transistor/thyristor bridge arrangement so that it can be run in either direction. The thyristors Th1 and Th2 are fired by the voltage developed across resistors RGa and RGb respectively and the supply is switched by darlington connected transistor pairs T4, T5 and T4<SP>1</SP>, T5<SP>1</SP>. The motor drives the slider of resetting potentiometer P2 in a measuring bridge arrangement whose input comes from transistor Tl energized in accordance with vehicle speed. The control signals for the motor bridge circuit come from resistors RC and RE for the two directions of rotation.
