979,500. Valves; screw-and-nut mechanisms. KING OF PRUSSIA RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION. Sept. 11, 1963 [Feb. 6, 1963], No. 35752/63. Headings F2Q and F2V. A limit stop device for a valve operator comprises an input drive shaft 15, connected to a hand wheel, an output shaft 12, splined through an adaptor 10 to the valve stem 9, and means coupling the shafts 9 and 15, e.g. worm 16 and gear segment 14. The stop device comprises a threaded extension 27 of the shaft 15 and a travelling nut 30 mounted thereon which abuts end faces 26 and 45 of the housing 35 in the limit positions of the valve indicated by the pointer 22. The nut 30 has lugs 31 and 32 engaging slots 38 and 39 in the housing 35 to prevent it rotating. In a further embodiment the valve stem 9 is rotated by a threaded input shaft and a nut travelling thereon which is secured to a linkage mounted on the output shaft and the limit stop device comprises an externally-threaded disc, the axial position of which can be varied.
