Abstract

1394032 Valves HONEYWELL GmbH 4 Sept 1973 [7 Sept 1972 23 Sept 1972] 41419/73 Heading F2V A valve for controlling the flow to a heating and a cooling heat exchanger in an air conditioning system has two valve members 11, 31 rotatable with a spindle 9 and spring-biased radially into contact with the cylindrical inner wall of the housing to control flow respectively between ports 4, 5, 6 and ports 24, 25, 26. The spindle 9 is rotated by electric motor 42 via pinion 46 and gear segment 58 which can be manually pivoted out of engagement with the pinion against the loading of spring 65 by an extension 67 so that the valve members can be adjusted relative their ports. Extension 67 carries a pointer for indicating valve member position. Each valve member is mounted on a separate part of the spindle 9 and is carried in a separate part of the housing, the spindle parts being keyed together and the housing parts bolted together. The gear segment is keyed to the spindle 9 and carries a slider 49 which moves over a resistor 50 of a feed back potentiometer. Stops 13, 33 limit the rotation of the spindle on opposite sides of the intermediate position shown in Figs. 2 and 3. Rotation in one direction increases the flow of heating fluid to the respective heat exchanger while the flow of cooling fluid to its heat exchanger remains bypassed and rotation in the opposite direction increases the flow of cooling fluid while the flow of heating fluid remains bypassed. Ports 4, 5 and ports 24, 25 have flow control profiles 14<SP>1</SP>, 151 and 34<SP>1</SP>, 35<SP>1</SP> respectively.
