Abstract

906,426. Valves. CARLSTEDT, S. B. F. Dec. 31, 1958, No. 42174/58. Class 135. A reversible electric motor 38 drives a regulating valve 16 through a centrifugal clutch 46, 48, 50, a reduction gear train 42 and a screwed nut 28. A disc 24 is fixed to the valve stem 20 and a pin 32 is screwed into a selected peripheral hole 36 of said disc and passes through a slot 34 in the cover 30 so preventing rotation of the valve member. The direction of rotation of the motor is determined by the position of a single pole double throw switch which may be controlled by temperature responsive means. The centrifugal clutch ensures that the drive is transmitted to the valve member only when the motor reaches a predetermined speed.
