963,101. Internal drum braking. D.B.A. S.A. March 11, 1963 [March 22, 1962], No. 9578/63. Heading F2E. An internal drum brake having two shoes 10, 12, each mounted at one end by pivots 14, 16 on a back plate 32 and surrounded by a drum 34 with which they are engaged by rotation of a spreader cam 36, has the cam fast on the end of a shaft 42 journalled in an eccentric bore 44 in a trunnion 46 itself journalled in a support 48 fast with the back plate. Rotation of the trunnion 46 within the support 48 centralizes the cam 36 relative to the two shoes 10, 12, which carry at their ends cam-engaging rollers 56, 58. A brake-applying lever 54 is mounted upon the end of the cam-shaft 42 by means of a worm-and-wormwheel adjuster.
