1390778 Internal shoe drum brakes; brake drums A B G WARBURTON 11 Feb 1974 [24 Nov 1972] 54512/72 Heading F2E The invention provides an eccentric brake drum for use in an internal shoe drum brake, and a brake incorporating such a drum. In the drawing (not shown) two diametricallyopposite arcuate shoes (a, b) are pivoted at (c) and (d) respectively and their convex surfaces are in contact with a surrounding drum (e). The drum has its interior surface (circular in plan) eccentrically located in relation to its exterior surface (also circular in plan). The pivoting of the shoes enables them to follow the contour of the drum's interior surface.
