Abstract

963,032. Loft ladders &c. C. G. HARMER. March 22, 1962 [May 23, 1961], No. 18490/61. Heading A6L. In a loft ladder the treads 5 are connected t‹ inclined side members 1, 2 by hinges 6 so that the ladder may be collapsed laterally against the wall 3. The ends of the treads engage in notches in the side members and the treads lie side by side when the ladder is collapsed. The trap door 9 is slid over the opening 4 by a link 12 when the ladder is collapsed. A counter balance may assist movement of the ladder. A loft light may be controlled by movement of the ladder.
