A ladder rung comprises a triangular, rectangular or polygonal tube 1 having two coplanar flanges 5, 7 extending in opposite directions and forming the tread with one side of the triangular &c. tube. The edges of the flanges have beadings 6 and the tread may have a covering or be ribbed.
