Abstract
953,241. Ladders. F. P. CROSSLEY. Oct. 26, 1962, No. 38472/61. Heading A6L. [Also in Division E1] Three ladder sections are used to form a scaffold, or a long or step-ladder. One section 10 has a plate 14 with an open-ended slot 15 in it at each end and the sections 11 each have a similar plate 19 at one end. The section 10 is of a width to fit between the stiles of the sections 11 and the rungs 12 of the section 10 protrude on each side to form projections 12a. To form a scaffold the plates 14, Fig. 1, are engaged with the rungs on the sections 11. This scaffold may be used on a staircase by engaging one plate 14 with a lower rung on one section 11. A stepladder is formed by engaging plates 19 on one section 11, Fig. 7, with the projections 12a of one rung of the section 10. A long ladder is formed by engaging the plates 14, 19 of aligned sections with the rungs of the adjacent section. The parts are held in place by ties 22 and locked by pegs 21 in slots in the stiles which close the slots in the plates 14, 19.
