Abstract
962,551. Automatic temperature control. WOODS OF COLCHESTER Ltd. Feb. 8, 1961 [March 11, 1960], No. 8702/60. Heading G3R. [Also in Division H2] In a ventilation system for a broiler house electric motors 11, 12, 13 driving ventilation fans are connected in parallel and energized from an alternating current supply 14 through an autotransformer 19 and thermostats 16, 17, 18. As the temperature in the broiler house increases from a low value the thermostat 16 operates to connect the motors to the supply through a low voltage tapping 21. With further increase in temperature the thermostat 17 operates connecting the motors to a tapping 24 to cause an increase in the voltage applied to the motor and a consequent increase in the speed of the ventilating fan. When thermostat 18 is actuated the motors are directly connected to the supply and the ventilating fans run at maximum speed. A motor can be manually disconnected from the system by a switch 28. It is stated that the voltage applied to motors supplied from a direct current supply can be similarly controlled through a tapped resistor and motor supplied from a thru-phase supply can be controlled by having connections and contacts appropriate to each phase.
