Abstract

962,322. Dynamo-electric machines. SOC. D'ELECTRONIQUE ET D'AUTOMATISME. Sept. 1, 1960 [Oct. 2, 1959], No. 30206/60. Heading H2A. A flat annular air-gap type of dynamo-electric machine has at least one discoidal stator member and a discoidal rotor member of which one includes a multipolar field magnet structure and the other includes at least two separate flat mutually coaxial printed circuit conductor windings, each of which receives or supplies current through a separate set of brushes. As shown in Fig. 1, the stator is the field structure and comprises one or more rings of either permanent magnets 8 having pole shoes 7 or magnetized ferrite material, and a magnetic yoke 3, secured to mounting plates 4, 5. The rotor carries the two windings 22, 23 secured to either an insulating ring 24 or a magnetic ring, not shown, and they may be either coaxial or concentric. Depending upon the interconnections of the two sets of brushes 26 . . . 29, Fig. 4, and whether the rotor is driven or driving, the machine may operate as a three-speed motor, a reversable motor, a tachometric generator, a generator of two separate and possibly different alternating and/or direct currents, a high frequency generator, or a rotary converter of A.C. to A.C., D.C. to D.C., A.C. to D.C., and vice versa. Many winding patterns are disclosed, including one, Fig. 14, in which the intervals 114 between zig-zag conductors 113 are magnetic material filled.
