In a multipolar electrical rotating machine having a flat annular air gap between a stator member and a discoidal rotor member one of which includes an insulating disc 11 on which are formed by a printed circuit technique two sets of half-turns 12a, 12b of armature winding flat conductors, the sets being interconnected by their inner and outer ends, the conductors are extended to substantially cover the complete surface of the disc and are so shaped that only narrow gaps of uniform width less than the conductor widths are left between adjacent conductors. The winding shown is on the rotor of a motor and is formed by either photo-etching or electrodeposition. The conductors are arranged as an 8-pole lap-wound sixtyfour-turn winding having front and back pitches of eight and seven conductors respectively, and their either straight or curved inner inclined portions 15 are commutated by alternate polarity current supply brushes in eight equispaced holders 27. The conductors may be connected to form the single winding shown or grouped to form a duplex or a triplex winding. The interconnections are made by either soldering or brazing together conductor extensions 14<SP>1</SP>, 15<SP>1</SP>, or connecting the ends to a circle of metal connections through the disc. The stator member comprises frame plates 22, 25 carrying rotor bearings 21, a magnetic ring 18, and eight permanent or electromagnetic field poles 7 arranged in alternate north-south polarity.
