Abstract

962, 314. Textile treating apparatus. TEXMA MASCHINENGESELLSCHAFT, [trading as GEB. SUCKER]. June 1, 1960 [June 5, 1959], No. 19448/60. Heading D1L. An apparatus for the wet treatment of fibrous material F, e.g. a band or warp of threads, comprises a bath 1, a guide roll 3, a dipping roll 4, upper and lower squeeze rolls 6, 5, all arranged in sequence, the rolls 3, 4 being so displaceably mounted and the rolls 3, 4, 5 being so located that the rolls 3, 4 and 4, 5 can be brought into mutual abutment at pressures which are simultaneously adjustable in the same sense. The roll 6 is mounted in a linkage 11, a spring 12 urging the roll 6 away from the roll 5. A piston 15 controls the pressure of all the nips as follows, the pivot points 22, 32 being fixed in space:- Lowering of the piston 15 pulls down a bell crank 16 in which roll 4 is journalled at 17 and thus tends to rotate clockwise a bell crank 20 to force roll 3 against roll 4 which is thus forced against the roll 5. Simultaneously, a bell crank 30 journalled at 18 to the bell crank 16 tends to rotate anti-clockwise a bell crank lever 31 which pulls down the linkage 11 to force the roll 6 against the roll 5. Contact between the cranks 16, 20 and 30, 31 is through adjustable members 25, 35. The roll 4 may be raised to the position 4a by the piston 15, the spring 12 then raising the roll 6 to the position 6a, the material F taking up the position F<SP>1</SP>, e.g. when the apparatus is stopped. In this position a nose 16b of the crank 16 engages an edge 20b of the crank 20 to force the roll 3 to the position 3a. A portion 37 of the trough 1 is movable to allow the trough to be drained before the pressure in the nip 5, 6 is released. Additional liquid treatment of the material F may take place at 2a, 2b, a scraper 26 being provided. In a modification, Fig. 1 (not shown) the baths 2a, 2b are omitted, and the frame 11 is connected to a separate piston, the lever 31 being dispersed with.
