962,208. Securing railway rails. R. P. SONNEVILLE. Feb. 13, 1963 [Feb. 27, 1962], No. 5920/63. Heading E1G. A fastener A for securing a rail R to a sleeper T is clamped on the rail flange by a bolt B pivotable away from the flange within a passage 2 so dimensioned that the axis of the bolt can lie at a distance from the rail flange equal to at least one half the width of the fastener. With the bolt in this position the fastener can be pivoted thereon through 90 degrees to release the rail while still engaging a resilient pad 5 projecting laterally of the rail at 10. In its outermost position the bolt is engaged in an upwardly and outwardly tapering part-cylindrical recess 12 in the passage 2. A head 1 on the bolt is pivotable in a notch 3 formed in a beam 3a reinforcing and spacing the two concrete pot sleepers T. The loop 6 of the fastener engages in its in use and out of use positions in part cylindrical recesses 9 and 13 respectively at right angles to each other.
