In an adjustable vehicle seat having a rigid seat frame 10 with a seat back 11 directly or indirectly fixed thereto, a seat platform 12 attached to the frame 10 for pivotal movement about a transverse horizontal axis 15 positioned at or near the front or rear of the platform 12, and means for holding the platform 12 in various positions of angular adjustment around the pivot axis 15; the holding means comprises a lever 19 fulcrumed at 17 to the frame 10 and engaging the underside of the platform 12 remote from the fulcrum, and means such as a screwed rod 18 operating on the lever at another position, remote from the fulcrum 17, to retain the lever 19 in various positions of rotation about the fulcrum. The lever 19 supports the platform through a resilient buffer 26, which may be secured to the platform 12 or the lever 19. The lever is adjusted by rotating a screw-threaded rod 18, which is attached to the lever 19 and passes through a threaded sleeve 20 in a bracket 23. The platform may comprise a resilient diaphragm supported within a sub-frame with the rear arm of the lever 19 branched to form two arms, each supporting the subframe through buffers 26. The seat may be attached to the back 11 by a spring 28 to assist upward movement of the seat. The seat may be provided with means to raise and lower the pivot axis 15 and/or the fulcrum 17. Also the frame 10 may be secured on runners for longitudinal adjustment.
