Abstract

Carbon monoxide is reacted with steam to form H2 and CO2 at 200-500 DEG C. and above 5 atms. in the presence of a catalyst containing molybdenum, and either nickel or cobalt, all as oxides or sulphides, and also containing an alkali metal compound in amount 0.1-0.6%, calculated as oxide. A catalyst may consist of 15% MoO3 and 3% CoO on an Al2O3 carrier and has alkali metal (e.g. Li, Na, K, Rb, Cs) incorporated therein by impregnating with a carbonate solution and drying. The alkali metal may, however, be present as a compound with other catalyst constituents, e.g. as molybdate or thiomolybdate.ALSO:Carbon monoxide is reacted with steam to form H2 and CO2 at 200-500 DEG C. and above 5 atms. in the presence of a catalyst containing molybdenum, and either nickel or cobalt, all as oxides or sulphides, and also containing an alkali metal compound in amount 0.1-0.6%, calculated as oxide.
