Abstract

961,455. Suction cleaner nozzles. ELECTROSTAR G.m.b.H. Feb. 8, 1962 [Feb. 15, 1961], No. 4888/62. Heading A4F. In a suction cleaner for carpets, a spring influenced beating element is mounted in the suction head and is periodically mechanically lifted by the drive of the machine, and the beating element comprises a bar carried by the ends of two leaf springs whose other ends are held in a mounting, the lifting being by one or two rotating cam discs. In one embodiment, discs 9 are carried at the ends of the sweeping roller 8, and carries cams 9<SP>1</SP>. These cams engage the bosses 13 on the spring rods 11, which are carried in the balls 16. A beating bar 10 is connected to the spring rods 11 by the rods 10<SP>1</SP>, and is periodically lifted and released by rotation of the roller 8. The tension of the spring bars 11 may be varied by rotating the ball 16 by the nut and screw mechanism 17-20.
