Abstract
665,019. Clearers for carding-engine flats. PHILIPSON & CO. (BOLTON), Ltd., LEACH, F., and GREENHALGH, F. April 17. 1950 [March 24, 1949], No. 7987/49. Class 120(i) A clearer A for cleaning the stripping brush E for the flats of carding engines has each end secured in a member B formed with an outwardly projecting cylindrical extension b which is a rotating fit in a cylindrical passage in another member C carried by a rod D and slidable thereon in relation to a bracket D<SP>1</SP> mounted on the stripping brush shaft e, a spring d being arranged between the member C and the bracket D' to hold the clearer away from the stripping brush until pressure is applied to the clearer, the arrangement being such that the clearer may be rotated from a position in which its cleaning surface can be moved into contact with the stripping brush into a position in which it 'can be cleaned. Angular movement of the clearer in relation to the member C may be limited by a pin engaging an arcuate slot c<SP>1</SP> and the clearer may be locked in either of its two positions by the screw c<SP>2</SP> engaging either of two recesses in the cylindrical extension b.
