960,768. Load handling pallets; low lift trucks. M. L. AVIATION CO. Ltd. April 3, 1963 [April 3, 1962], No. 12760/62. Heading B8H. A pallet consists of a load platform 2 supported by legs 8, 9 whose ground-engaging ends carry wheels or rollers 10, the legs being retractible by rotation about pivots 6, 7 through the agency of a screw-and-nut mechanism 22, 14. A pair of wheels 8, 9 whose screw-and-nut mechanisms are operated by a common actuating rod 17, is provided on each of two opposite sides of the pallet. Each rod is rotated by a handle attachable at 20 and the oppositely threaded rod portions 22, 23 cause opposite linear movement of their nuts 14 each of which carries a lug 13 engaged with the corresponding leg 8. The wheels or rollers 10 primarily serve to assist the raising of the platform when the legs are extended: if the pallet is required to move on wheels separate detachable wheel units 24, Fig. 1 (not shown), are preferably provided.
