Abstract

The invention comprises salts derived from an unsubstituted or substituted 3, 6-endoxo-hydrophthalic acid and a mixture of normal primary amines, and solutions containing them. The phthalic acid component may be a di-, tetra- or hexahydro compound, and may be substituted by halogen, lower alkyl, lower acyl, lower alkoxy, aryloxy, lower acyloxy and nitro. The amines are used as mixtures to prepare the salts by reaction with the endoxo-hydrophthalic acid or anhydride; suitable amines are 1-tridecylamine, 1-nonyldecylamine, 1-pentadecylamine, 1-docosylamine, 1-tridecenylamine, 1-tricosenylamine, 1-amino -3- chlorobeneicosane, 1-amino -2- (b -naphthyl)-decane, 1-amino -4- aceto hexadecane, 1-amino -3- methylnonane, and the mixtures obtained by hydrogenating the ammoniation products of acids derived from natural fats and oils, such as palm oil, lard, lard oil, tallow, castor oil, olive oil, peanut oil, rapeseed oil, corn oil, coconut oil, whale oil and fish oil. These salts have herbicidal action (see Division A5). Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 692,262.ALSO:The invention comprises herbicidal solutions which are oil solutions of salts derived from an unsubstituted or substituted 3,6-endoxo-hydrophthalic acid and a mixture of normal primary amines (see Division C2). Specified substituent groups are halogen, alkyl, acyl, alkoxy, aryloxy, acyloxy and nitro. Specified amines are alkyl amines, halogenated alkylamines, aralkylamines, aceto substituted alkylamines and the mixtures obtained by hydrogenation of the ammoniation products of acids derived from natural fats and oils. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 692,262.
