Abstract

957,007. Slip-lasted shoes. P. R. HELAINE. May 4, 1962, No. 17232/62. Heading A3B. A slip-lasted shoe is made from two pieces of leather, one forming the upper, the other the forepart of the insole. The upper 1 is joined to the forepart insole 2 e.g. by lacing, then placed on a last and finished in the usual way. For a lined shoe a lining 7 is adhered to the upper 1 except at the middle part where reinforcing tabs 8 on the lining prevent adhesion (see Fig. 3). Slots 9 are then cut in the upper 1 and the forepart insole is attached to both upper and lining forward of the slots, and to the lining only rearward of the slots. The assembly is then placed on a last and the edges of the upper 1, rearward of slots 9, are raised to allow a rearpart insole 12 to be inserted between the upper and lining. The zone 13 may then be roughened to the required thickness. The shoe is then finished in the usual way by adding shank stiffener, placing on sole and heel &c.
