Abstract

An aluminium mirror is formed on a support, e.g. of glass, by vapour depositing an aluminium alloy containing only 0.1-1% by weight of iron cobalt and/or nickel on to the support. The process is used to produce a mirror in an incandescent lamp by vaporizing the alloy from a tungsten or molybdenum incandescent helix under a vacuum of 10-3 to 10-2 mm. mercury to form a coating 1500<\>rA thick.
