A device for filling a container such as a refill cartridge with a plastic substance, e.g. mastic, contained in an open-topped tin &c., comprises a plunger disc 1-3 having an aperture 4 above which the open end of the cartridge 6 is held during filling, the disc being pushed down into the tin to force the contents through the aperture into the cartridge. The cartridge may be located on a collar 5 and held by a loose plate 4 engaging lugs 10 on a handle 7-9. Further lugs 11 accommodate a cartridge of different length.
