Abstract
954, 662. Stop motion. ALLGAUER MASCHINENBAU G.m.b.H. April 5,1960 [April 8, 1959; Dec. 16,1959], No.11935/60. Addition to 862,079. Heading D1D. The apparatus of the parent Specification is modified by the provision of means whereby the roller 1<SP>1</SP> is lifted off the roller 2<SP>1</SP> not only by the failure of the emergent thread 3<SP>1</SP> but also by the failure of one or more of the incoming yarns of which the thread 3<SP>1</SP> is composed. Each such yarn accordingly supports a pivoted weight e.g. 32d, which, if the yarn fails, tips to engage a bar 35. This rocks the slotted bar 11a to release the leverarm 10<SP>1</SP> and straighten the joint at 26<SP>1</SP> to cause lever 4<SP>1</SP> to lift off roller 1 and bring a tongue against the roller 2<SP>1</SP> to trap the thread and prevent it from lapping. As soon as the lever 101 pivots, a part 37 thereon engages the displaced weight to move it back in position. Means for braking the take-up spindle is also provided which is actuated on failure of an end; the brake is connected to one end of a pivoted lever 39 of which the other end is normally held depressed against the tension of a spring 40 by a roller on a short arm of a pivoted lever 42a of which the other arm extends as a handle outside the casing enclosing the parts. When the joint is straightened and lever 4-operative an extension of the part 37 engages the short arm of lever 42a and moves it over a dead-centre to lift the roller off the lever 39 so that the spring 40 rocks it and applies the brake, the external arm of lever 42a now becoming upright from which position it can be manually depressed to release the brake. The joint 26<SP>1</SP> can be reset by an external handle 47 which is integral with the extension of the part 37 which operates the lever 42a. The two levers 42a, 47 are so disposed that they can be operated together by one hand. The drop-pin 8<SP>1</SP> is now separately mounted on a pivot 36 and has an extension 8<SP>1</SP>a lying below the connection between the bar 35 and spindle 11a so that failure of the emergent end 3<SP>1</SP> also operates the lever 4<SP>1</SP>. An electromagnetically leaf-spring may be disposed beneath the drop wire 81 and an extension of the bar 35 to hold the parts in position when the apparatus is not in use e.g. during threading-up.
