Abstract

954,405. Cable clamps. W. SIHN, [trading as WILHELM SIHN JUN. KOMM.-GES.]. Dec. 29, 1961 [Dec. 31, 1960], No. 46560/61. Heading H2C. [Also in Division E2] An insulating cable holder consists of a pair of clamping members 6, 7 which fit together in a telescopic fashion so as to slide over a central threaded rod 3. The two clamps are urged apart by a spring 10 and are made to clamp cables in the side recesses by tightening a butterfly nut 9 on a threaded bar 3 against the action of a spring. A key-and-slot arrangement 11, 12 prevents relative rotational movement of the upper and lower members. The lower clamping member is provided with an eight or twelvesided recess 8 so that it may be located in a number of angular positions relative to a square nut 4. The upper part 17 of clamp 7 is also made square or polygonal so that a number of clamps may be superposed and drawn together with a single butterfly nut. The outer recess in the face of the clamping members is for flat cables and a lip 15 is provided to prevent them from slipping out sideways. Points 16 also grip plastic cables. The clamping members themselves may be of plastics material. The lower end of rod 2 may be provided with a spike or coarse thread for securing to a base.
