Abstract

The clamp connector, for connecting cables, consists of a base (1) and a cap (3). The cable (11) passes into the base at right angles to its axis and is clamped by the end of a contact button (2) pressed down onto it by a screw (9) in the movable cap. An elastic element (4) is located around the screw's shank (8), between the underside of the cap and the top of the contact button to automatically take up the play caused by the compression of the cable or the screw working loose. The elastic element may be a metal bellow-like spring. (The base and cap have hexagonal heads to allow them to be screwed together using spanners, thereby adjusting the connector for different sized cables).
