Abstract

954,379. Rubber springs. C. A. VOIGT. Jan. 16, 1961 [Jan. 27, 1960], No. 1699/61. Heading F2S. A rubber tension spring for resiliently suspending oscillatory loads, e.g. spin-driers, comprises two collinear straps 5, 6 which are bonded to rigid central and end connecting members 7 and 8, 9 respectively, the rubber straps exhibiting high self-damping characteristics. Rounded-off transition areas such as 14, 15 are provided between the straps 5, 6 and the connectors 7, 8, 9 which may be formed of solid or U-shaped metal parts, or e.g. of multi-layered fabric inserts, preferably of lattice form wholly or partly imbedded in the rubber. The straps 5, 6 while of constant cross-sectional shape, may differ in crosssectional area and in length, and their degrees of stiffness may not be the same. Lengths of textiles may be imbedded in the straps 5, 6.
