Abstract

799,219. Spring upholstery. NACHMAN CORPORATION. Dec. 4, 1956 [Jan. 10, 1956], No. 37034/56. Class 52(4) A spring assembly, shown as a seat back cushion, is built up from units S each having a rigid bearer strap 10 to which are attached upholstery springs the upper turns of which are coupled by border wires 22 which are connected at one end to the corresponding end of the strap 10, the latter preferably having an offset 50, Fig. 2, shorter than the adjacent spring, whereby a rounded contour may be produced on the cushion surface. Connecting springs 62 may be applied in the plane of the surface and similar springs 64, 68 connect the end units and an upper border wire 66 to the end frames of the article, the ends of the bearer straps 10 being secured to the upper and lower frame rails 54, 52.
