Abstract

953,966. Discharging liquid by gaseous pressure. CORNELIUS CO. Aug. 21, 1962 [March 8, 1962], No. 32109/62. Heading FIR. [Also in Division F4] Apparatus for storing and discharging a fluid, e.g. gas, liquid or carbonated beverage, under gas pressure, comprises a rigid container 11 divided by a flexible, ribbed diaphragm 34, e.g. of rubber, into a fluid chamber 35 and a gas chamber 36, the fluid and gas being in thermal contact with the container walls. A fluid inlet and delivery valve 18 is fitted in a removable, rigid closure member 21 sealed by an 0-ring 22 and held in position by a spring clip 26, a passage 25 ensuring complete emptying of chamber 35. Container feet 12, 13 may be of resilient material and have access apertures 44. Diaphragm 34 has internal and external ribs 42, 43. A gas inlet valve 19 may be provided. If valve 19 is omitted, liquified gas may be introduced into the container through opening 20 before diaphragm 34 and closure 21 are fitted. The diaphragm is located by engagement of its peripheral beading 38, Fig. 7, with a bend 32 welded to the container, sealing being effected by a lip 39.
