Abstract

1,076,530. Discharging liquids by gaseous pressure. FLAKE ICE MACHINES Inc. Nov. 16, 1965, No. 48599/65. Heading F1R. [Also in Division F2] A device for dispensing beverage from a container 12 comprises concentric pipes 50 and 52 with sharpened points 68 and 70 for piercing the diaphragm (40), Fig. 3 (not shown), of a rubber plug 38 sealing the container. Carbon dioxide under pressure is supplied to the container 12, through the annular space defined between the pipes 50 and 52, via a shut-off and regulating valve 20. Beverage discharge through pipe 50 is controlled by tap 16. The pipes are sealed and secured by welding or brazing at 56. In another embodiment Fig. 4 (not shown) a collar (90) and a sealing-ring (88) on the longer pipe (50) are clamped to the shorter pipe (52) by means of a nut (96) engaging a threaded head (82) on the shorter pipe. In a further embodiment, Fig. 5 (not shown), a sealing-ring (106) is clamped between flanges (102 and 104) on the pipes and the flanges are secured together by means of a stirrup (116) engaging a collar (114) on the longer pipe (50).
