Abstract
953,818. Gas turbine rotors. ROLLS-ROYCE Ltd. Feb. 1, 1962, No. 3972/62. Heading F1T. A compressor rotor comprises alternately arranged blade carrying discs and spacer rings positioned between end plates connected to shafting such that neither the discs nor rings are in direct contact with the shafting, the rings abutting the adjacent discs and being connected radially inwardly to a rigid connection between the adjacent discs, each end plate being secured to its adjacent disc inwardly of the periphery of the disc. End plates 14, 15 of an axial flow gas turbine compressor are carried on stub shafting 16 and bolted at 19, 20 to discs 18 abutting spacer rings 23 having radial flanges 24 connected to rings 25 welded at 26 to projections 27 on the discs 18. Flanges 28 on the rings 25 are also bolted to the discs 18 at 19, 19a, 20. An extra disc 34 may be mounted upstream of plate 14 by a ring 37 having no direct connection with the spacer 38.
